Um, Can I Get It Without The Phone?
While waiting for a cable guy that never came, I refreshed Engadget's live coverage of Steve Jobs' keynote. See this is what tech geeks like me do. So, the big news other than Apple TV was the announcement of the long anticipated iPhone. From simply a tech geek this is pretty sexy. That big touch sensitive screen. So pretty. My problem. Why can't I get just an iPod that looks like that? Kick out the phone guts and put is a 30 or 60 GB hard drive and you are ready to go. Wouldn't the TV shows and movies be much more viewable on this screen? This is the video iPod everyone has been waiting for, so why limit this design to just the iPhone? I guess I have to wait a little longer to upgrade to a new iPod. I would jump at the chance if my iPod looked like this.

What's Apple TV?
I don't think you're too far off the scent.
My theory: note that the June release date marks almost a year (if I remember correctly) from the 5G ipod release. I suspect that Stevie J. dropped this one early to a) as he said, ensure the FCC isn't the product announcer, and b) make it less obvious when the FCC is testing the wi-fi enabled true video ipod with the 80 and 120 GB capacities. Sure, some people will pay premiums to have the phone feature, but I suspect for $100 or $200 less you'll get the wi-fi enabled video ipod complete with all the Mac OS X and safari fun of the iphone. Am I right? We'll see...
P.S. Jennie - appleTV is a set-top box than enables you to sync with your pc and stream music, video, and photos from your itunes software onto your TV/home stereo system.
well put....videos would look amazing on this screen
