What Does It Mean When George Kennedy Appears in Your Dream?

Actually, how about we forget I asked?

Ramblings

Ok, ok, ok. It's been awhile since I posted. The reason is stated below. That reason has led to me writing little snippets over the past two weeks while at work. For those wanting pictures of my apartment, it's a studio apartment. What is there to photograph? I might have a solution though.

So I'm all moved in. I still have a bookcase, console table, and a couple lamps to buy, but other than that I'm all set. Oh and there's the DSL problem. It seems my order has been pushed back till the 27th of November. How can they expect someone to survive a month without DSL? This means no internet, I can't play my 360, and I have to use the phone line for my Tivo. It's like living back in 2002. Ridiculous. This has lead to me calling every day to see if the company has bumped up the date. I hate that I'm using annoyance to try to get what I want. Other than that the apartment is fantastic. Twice as much room as before, my own parking space, my cable company actually offers the MLB package, I actually have a nice view outside my window, and I can do laundry after 10 pm. This weekend I will make my rounds to all the restaurants in town to pick up their take out menus. I'm rating that as a 4 on the "sad scale." I did have some decent garlic pepper squid last night. I could see me being here for awhile.

One thing about the movers I hired to move my stuff. I highly recommend it. One problem is the sweat factor. I was impressed that one of the movers could lift my TV by himself. Then I realized he dripped sweat all over it. While setting everything up I kept getting a strong scent of sweat. After checking myself, I realized the smell emanated from the TV. I proceeded to clean the TV like no TV has ever been cleaned. It still another day for the scent to leave. Thank goodness for remotes.

I'm going to put my support behind the struggling new show "Friday Night Lights." It's better than half of the shows out there and is getting no viewership. Of course perhaps NBC shouldn't have given it a trial run time slot against CSI: Miami and MNF. No wonder you suck NBC. I'm amazed you haven't screwed up Heroes somehow.

I had dream last night that my wife and I adopted two little girls. The weird thing was that they were 3 year old versions of the girl from Mean Creek and Zooey Deschanel.

This also makes the fourth or fifth dream where I dreamt I was married yet never see actually see her in my dreams. One thing I learned in this dream is that if I ever have little girls my wife is going to have to be the disciplinarian. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be the pushover parent if I have little girls.

It really pained me to congratulate my father on his Cardinals being handed them the World Series. Man, I can't stand the Cardinals. It's nice to see that baseball's replacement for its resident "I'm so good I can treat people like crap" jackass currently held by Barry Bonds is coming along nicely in the form of Albert Pujols. What was up with him just appearing at the trophy presentation? He wasn't even the MVP of the series, and suddenly he just appears. Dude, a scrawny white kid beat you out for MVP. Go hang with the rest of your players.

Dear Cubs,
When you promise to spend big bucks this season to make a push in the talent starved NL, your first job should be keeping your All-Star 3B and not letting other teams have the opportunity to outbid you. Hendry's a moron. The Cubs can afford it so stop penny pinching and get the deal done.

One of my current D (maybe F) list celebrity crush is this young lady from CNET. She's cute and she works with gadgets. This is how short my list has been reduced.

I just want to take this time to reiterate how fantastic my new apartment is. Location, location, location.

I admit I am somewhat intrigued by Nintendo's Wii. I'm still not sold on the wiimote, but I might be beginning to come around to it. I just can't see it being something I would play alone. It feels like a party game. Not that that is a bad thing. I just don't know enough people that would feel comfortable in looking like an idiot while playing a video game.

This weekend (Nov. 4th-5th) I watched one of the best soccer matches I've seen in my short time as a fan. Spurs beat top flight club Chelsea for the first time in 16 years. No matter who won it was one those matches that makes someone a fan of soccer. It quickly received the green button of "Till I delete" status on my Tivo.

I can always watch Ghostbusters no matter at what point I catch it on cable. It easily fits into that top five along with The Natural, Road House, Hoosiers, and The Rookie.

Maybe I Should Cut Back on the Video Games

I had another one of those crazy dreams last night. Yes, it involved video games. Now it wasn't me trying to escape some blue ghosts while I gobbled yellow pills. I wasn't avoiding barrels while I climbed scaffolding. I also wasn't blasting the Covenant with double SMG's. In fact it really wasn't based on any game at all. Well, maybe Resident Evil, but not really. The only similarity between my dream and RE is that it had zombies in it.

It began with me and a girl (I assume she was my girlfriend. It's my dream.) in the bottom floor of this mall with a pistol in hand. I didn't know why until a zombified security guard stepped out of the shadows of the decrepit mall. After dropping him with a bullet to the head, more and more zombies started creeping out of darkness. I quickly ran out of bullets and dragged my lady past the shoe section. I don't know why I distinctly remember the shoe section. Anyway, I hid my girlfriend. The rest of the dream consisted of me scouring the mall for weapons in an attempt to stay alive. That's what was made it so much like a video game. I would be running through the mall and stumble across a gun and ammo just sitting in the underwear section. There was a revolver, a shotgun, and a machine gun. I should also mention I must have been playing at the highest difficulty level because the number of bullets I would get was very small. The last weapon I found before I woke up was the grenade launcher. Of course the shells for it were on the other side of the mall. A nice touch that I seemed to add to these grenades was that they were on timers. On the back of each shell was a dial to the timer. It resembled one of those cooking timers. So, you'd set the timer and then shoot it into a wall that the zombies were congregating and run before it sent the whole floor crashing on you as well. Before I woke up, things got pretty hairy. I think I got rid of them all.

My point of this dream? I don't know. It means probably one of two things. Either I play too many video games, or I should've gone into developing video games because I can do it in my sleep.

Taste My Samurai Blade You Alien Bastards!

I had another one of those dreams last night. I dreamt that I went with a group of people on a vacation to a cabin in the woods. One of the guys in the group happened to be a former fling of the girl I was dating in my dream. While hanging out in the cabin some of my fellow vacationers were alienized ala Invasion of the Body Snatchers. These aliens had no emotion. That was how they differentiated the humans from themselves. My girlfriend in the dream happened to be one of the ones that were alienized. They started knocking off the other fellow vacationers one by one. Realizing emotion was the give away; I acted like one of them till I could figure a way out. She, though, suspected I was still human. To test me she kept hooking up with not only her former fling but also other guys in the group. She made a point to hook up in front of me. It took all I could to bury my anger and disgust. Which is surprising since I knew she was actually an alien. Then the wheels of my dream came off as I found a samurai sword and eventually was able to take out the aliens with my newfound skill with the blade. I eventually woke up while being pursued by the police, who thought I was killing people rather than aliens. That’s why you don’t eat salt and vinegar potato chips at 2 in the morning.

Damn You Zombie Kitten!

Every now and then I will have a serial dream for about a week. I don’t know how it happens, but I end up having a dream that begins where last night’s ended. My current serial has dealt with the wonderful world of zombies. Up until last night I have been defending a house against zombies, and not just human zombies. The night before I thought I had finally rid the house of all things human and beast that was zombified. Last night I was doing a final sweep of the house. Everything appeared to be in the clear till I came across a vent in the floor. I remember feeling proud of myself for not being bitten or hurt by zombies. The cats in the house scurried toward the open vent and started eating something. I kneeled down to see the cats were eating an already dead cat. At least it was dead till it became a zombie cat. “Oh shit!” I shouted. Sure enough all the cats that were eating the zombie cat became themselves zombie cats. I grabbed a large bag to catch the zombie cats. I moved swiftly and caught one. Yes! I dodged a couple as they came after me, and scooped them up in the bag. I thought I had caught them all till I glanced over my shoulder to see a zombie kitten perched on a desk. Sure enough it jumped on my back. Its claws dug deep but not as deep as its bite. I shook the kitten off, and finally caught it up in the bag. I quickly killed the zombie cats before I myself turned into a zombie. Sitting alone, I rebuked myself for being bitten. I was so stupid. I awoke right before zombification. The lesson learned: Never turn your back on a zombie kitten.
